Hi, I’m Brian Conway!
I enjoy fishkeeping, homeschooling, soccer, and fishing. One of my favorite places to be is the local, Oklahoma Aquarium. This is such a favorite place of mine, I became an official volunteer.
My interest in the aquatic world started around 10 years ago when I lived in Riverview, Florida, near Tampa Bay. We were in a place where you could go to the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Coast all in one day. There was this petting zoo nearby with manatees, horseshoe crabs, and other assorted aquatic creatures. That’s when I first realized how much I liked aquatic life. Since then, I’ve visited many aquariums and research centers around the United States.
I finally discovered the possibility of having my own fish. I originally was going to get a 10-gallon aquarium and fill it with baby koi (which I had no idea grew to 40+”). Then, while we were in the store, my mom advised me to do some research, first. When I first started on the fishkeeping journey, all of the available books were either too basic to give me any new information or too advanced for me to understand.
I started writing Fishkeeping for Kids when I was 10 as an assignment for homeschooling, but I decided I would publish it to help solve this problem for others. Fishkeeping for Kids is my first book, but I enjoyed writing this one so much, that I have already started working on my next. I currently live in Oklahoma on a 15-acre homestead with my parents, younger sister, and four-legged friend, Asia. Check out my Instagram, Facebook or blog to join me on my journey!
